SEATTLE - Firefighters are responding to a reported fire in a high-rise building in South Lake Union on Friday morning.
The Seattle Fire Department opens its application window once every two years for just under two months, which is the only window of time for prospective candidates to apply to be in the hiring process. (FOX 13 Seattle)

The Seattle Fire Department made the initial announcement on social media at 11:38 a.m.
Crews responded to a high-rise building in the 400 block of 9th Avenue North – Which is near the Amazon building.
The Seattle Department of Transportation announced that traffic was blocked in all directions due to the fire department response. The community is asked to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
FOX 13 crews have arrived at the scene and are working to gather more information.
Just before noon, the fire department reported smoke in the parking garage and in portions of the building. Crews are working on ventilating the building.
At 12:06 p.m., the department reported that firefighters reported an electrical hazard in the parking garage. Puget Sound Energy is responding to the scene.
At 12:36 p.m., the department announced that crews are on standby as they wait for the energy to be shut down to safely enter the building.
9th between Harrison and Republican, and Harrison between 9th and Westlake are currently closed.
Person trapped in elevator, Seattle rescue crews entering the building
At 12:45 p.m., the department reported that one person was trapped in an elevator in the building. Seattle City Light secured the power and rescue crews are now entering the building.
At 1:09 p.m., the department announced there were no injuries reported, and crews were reducing the response.
