Seattle police are investigating a deadly shooting at Baker Park in Seattle's Ballard neighborhood on Sunday, January 26, 2025.
"It’s hard to register when it actually happens this close to you," said one neighbor. "We live right across the street. It was a little moment of shock. I feel for the loss of life."
What they're saying:
Detectives are still working to determine what led up to the shooting. There are no suspects in custody.
"We heard what we thought were fireworks around 2 or 2:30 in the morning," said one man who asked not to be identified. "It woke me up. It wasn't until later that everyone realized it was gunshots."
This is the second homicide in Seattle in as many days and also marks the second homicide so far in 2025. Saturday's double shooting in Pioneer Square left one man dead and a woman injured.
