SPD: Man shot after honking back at suspect near UW campus
SEATTLE - Police are searching for a suspect who shot and injured another man near University of Washington’s campus on Thursday.
According to the Seattle Police Department (SPD), just before 11:00 p.m., officers responded to the corner of Roosevelt Way NE and NE 42nd St. for reports of a shooting. This area is across the street from UW Medical Center.
When officers arrived, they found a 32-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his leg, and immediately brought him to Harborview Medical Center for treatment.
Friends of the victim were on scene, and were interviewed by police. They were inside the vehicle when the shooting happened.
They told the SPD, that they were driving in the University District when a man in a silver sedan honked at them from behind. As they drove away, the victim’s friend honked back. Then the suspect got out of his car and flashed a gun from his waist area.
When the victim's vehicle reached UW Medical Center, shots were fired from the silver sedan.
The SPD says they recovered evidence of the shooting from the scene and from the vehicle the victim was riding in during the shooting.
Authorities say the suspect was last seen driving a silver sedan while leaving the area.
