Singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen dead at 82

Influential Canadian singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen died Thursday at the age of 82.

Cohen was probably best known for his 1984 song "Hallelujuah," which was famously covered by Jeff Buckley 10 years later.

Cohen's death was confirmed on his website by his record label, Sony Music Canada.

Here's the statement on his website:

"It is with profound sorrow we report that legendary poet, songwriter and artist, Leonard Cohen has passed away.

"We have lost one of music’s most revered and prolific visionaries.

"A memorial will take place in Los Angeles at a later date. The family requests privacy during their time of grief."

No cause of death was given.
