SPD: Woman dies after being shot multiple times in tent

SEATTLE – A woman died at a hospital early Saturday after being shot multiple times in a tent in Seattle’s Yesler Terrace neighborhood.

Officers were called to 8th and Yesler around 1:45 a.m. on reports of the shooting. Seattle Police Det. Patrick Michaud said the woman, in her 40s, was found inside the tent, located in a homeless encampment south of Yesler Way. Seattle fire medics took her to Harborview Medical Center, but she later died of her injuries.

Michaud said that witness told SPD detectives that they saw someone reach inside the tent where the woman was and fired numerous shots from a handgun. The man then quickly fled from the area.

The investigation into the homicide has been taken over by SPD homicide and CSI detectives, along with the King County Medical Examiner. No arrests have been made.
