The man who hit and killed a cyclist in West Seattle last year and left the scene will spend a maximum of six years in jail.

On July 15, 2022, 20-year-old Mohamed Yusuf hit and killed 63-year-old Robb Mason, who was riding his bike home from work. Police say Yusuf left Mason for dead near the Spokane Street Bridge and drove off from the scene.

Documents also show Yusuf was identified on Ring camera and audio behind his house telling someone he was driving "55mph," several admissions he made in his social media feeds, including searches for "hit-and-run death of cyclist," "how long does marijuana (weed) stay in your system?" and links to news articles on this specific event.

Yusuf addressed the court and Mason's widow and said what he did was wrong and that he was sorry.
