Suspect threatens man with gun, makes him apologize for skin color

SEATTLE -- A man who allegedly pointed a gun at a jogger and made him apologize for his skin color is being charged with second-degree assault and malicious harassment, the King County Prosecutor's Office said.
Chikwanha Eastling Nyashanu, 35, allegedly approached a man in the 7200 block of East Greenlake Drive North around 9 p.m. Aug. 11 and pointed a gun the man's face, according to court documents. The victim raised his hands in the air and said he would give Nyashanu his wallet. According to police, Nyashanu said he didn't want the wallet and instead wanted the man to "apologize for all the things white people did to black people."
The victim complied and "apologized profusely," court documents state. Nyashanu then pulled back the gun and walked away. The victim quickly called police.
Police located Nyashanu near the scene and ordered him to get on the ground. When he didn't comply, officers Tased him and he fell to the ground. A handgun also fell from his person, officers said.
Nyashanu was booked into King County Jail and is being held on $100,000 bail. He has previous firearms and reckless endangerment convictions, court documents state.
