THURSTON COUNTY, Wash. - Two people died in a crash Thursday morning on Interstate 5 in Thurston County.
Washington State Patrol troopers said the crash happened after 9 a.m. on southbound I-5 at the off-ramp to SR 12. Two cars were involved.
WSP said five people were in one vehicle that was pulled over on the right shoulder at that off-ramp to fix a bike rack on the back of the vehicle.
A second vehicle moved to exit at SR-12, swerved to the right and hit the parked vehicle. The car also hit a passenger that was outside of the vehicle.
The driver of the exiting vehicle was not wearing a seatbelt.
The driver of the car that swerved to exit died, as did the person he hit.
Their names have not been released, pending family notification.
Three other people suffered non life-threatening injuries.
WSP continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
