87-year-old woman killed in Central District house fire
The Seattle Fire Department is investigating the cause of a fire that killed an 87-year-old woman in the Central District on Thursday.
SEATTLE - An elderly woman died in a house fire in Seattle's Central District Thursday afternoon.

What we know:
The Seattle Fire Department responded to the house fire along 20th Avenue and East Cherry Street around 6 p.m.
Crews were quickly able to get the fire under control, however upon a search of the home, firefighters located an 87-year-old woman inside.
Seattle Fire later confirmed that the woman, despite first responders attempting life-saving measures, had died at the scene.
"The firefighters, as quickly as they could, got that patient out and started assessing everything going on," said Kaila Lafferty, Public Information Officer for the Seattle Fire Department. "Unfortunately, after life-saving efforts, the patient did pass away here on scene."
No one else was hurt in the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
