Mariners WIN 3-2, advance to ALCS - 10:10 p.m.
Both Detroit and Seattle managed to get a lone baserunner in the 14th inning, but neither was able to cross home plate. Dillon Dingler was left stranded at second base after a one-out double, and Victor Robles was caught stealing to end the inning for Seattle.
Game 2 starter Luis Castillo was on the mound for Seattle, and Tommy Kahnle took over from Game 3 starter Jack Flaherty for the Tigers.
Castillo sat the Tigers down in order for Seattle.
J.P. Crawford worked a lead-off walk against Kahnle, who then hit Randy Arozarena with a pitch to put a pair of runners on with no outs. Cal Raleigh flew out to center field, but both runners advanced on the play.
Julio Rodríguez was intentionally walked to load the bases, and Jorge Polanco sent the Mariners to the ALCS with a game-winning RBI single in a 3-2 count off Kahnle to end the marathon after four hours and 58 minutes.

Seattle is into the ALCS for the first time since 2001.
Game 5 remains tied 2-2 into the 14th inning - 9:33 p.m.
Eduard Bazardo shut down the Tigers in the top of the 13th inning, striking out Riley Greene swinging, and Spencer Torkelson and Colt Keith looking to give the offense another chance to win it.
Detroit's Game 3 starter, Jack Flaherty, entered to pitch the 13th for Detroit.
Flaherty walked Cal Raleigh to lead off the inning, and walked Julio Rodríguez to put two runners on with no outs. Flaherty then went to a 2-0 count on Jorge Polanco as he struggled to throw strikes before Polanco laced a line drive foul down the first baseline. Flaherty battled back to strikeout Polanco for the first out of the inning.
Flaherty then got Eugenio Suárez to ground into a double play to shortstop as the marathon reached the 14th inning.
Mariners survive Detroit threat in top of the 12th inning - 8:58 p.m.
Dan Wilson leaves Logan Gilbert in to begin the 12th inning – his third inning of the night just three days after throwing six innings in his Game 3 start. An infielder chopper from Zach McKinstry lands perfectly between Gilbert and first baseman Josh Naylor for a single to lead off the inning and Dillon Dingler follows with a single to left as the first two batters reached in the 12th.
Wilson goes to Eduard Bazardo out of the bullpen to try and escape the jam. A sacrifice bunt by Parker Meadows advanced the runners to second and third with one out, putting the go-ahead run 90 feet away.
A broken bat chopper to third baseman Eugenio Suárez by Javier Báez allowed the throw to come home to cut down McKinstry at the plate for the second out. After an intentional walk of Kerry Carpenter, Eduard Bazardo got Gleyber Torres to fly out to right field to survive the massive chance for Detroit to seize control.
Then it was the Tigers' turn for a Houdini act.
Keider Montero walked Leo Rivas to lead-off the bottom of the inning, who advanced to second on a spiked pick-off throw from Montero. Montero then hit Victor Robles with a pitch, which definitely caught Robles' hand, but also seemed as though it hit Robles' bat first. However, the hit-by-pitch ruling stood on review to put two runners on with no outs.
After a failed sacrifice bunt try, J.P. Crawford flew out to left field, and Randy Arozarena grounded back to Montero for a double play that eliminated Seattle's threat.
Still tied as Game 5 moves to 12th inning tied 2-2 - 8:42 p.m.
Kerry Carpenter delivered a lead-off single in the 11th inning – his fourth hit of the night – and advanced to second base on a passed ball from Cal Raleigh, who didn't have a single passed ball in the regular season. Gleyber Torres flew out to right field and the Mariners walked Riley Greene to set up the force play at all bases.
Logan Gilbert got Spencer Torkelson to fly out to left and struck out Colt Keith to escape the jam and send it to the bottom of the 11th.
Keider Montero replaced Troy Melton on the mound for Detroit. Jorge Polanco had a deep fly to center caught by Parker Meadows. Eugenio Suárez popped out to second base and Josh Naylor grounds out to shortstop as the marathon continues into the 12th inning.
Extra innings with Logan Gilbert to the mound - 8:20 p.m.
Parker Meadows ran down a hard line drive from Jorge Polanco in right-center field for the first out of the inning. After an Eugenio Suárez strikeout, Josh Naylor delivered a two-out single for his third hit of the game through the right side of the infield off Detroit reliever Will Vest. However, Vest struck out Leo Rivas looking to send the game to extra innings.
Logan Gilbert is in to pitch for Seattle, marking the first relief appearance of Gilbert's professional career. Gilbert gets a pair of fly outs to center field and a strikeout of Parker Meadows to give Seattle a chance to win in the bottom of the 10th.
Victor Robles sliced a lead-off double into the right field corner off Troy Melton to put the winning run on second base with no outs in the 10th inning. A broken bat lineout to second from J.P. Crawford kept Robles at second base. After Randy Arozarena struck out, the Tigers intentionally walked Cal Raleigh to give the key at-bat to Julio Rodríguez. But Melton got Rodríguez to hit a chopper to shortstop to escape the jam and send it to the 11th inning.
Tied at 2-2 heading to the ninth inning - 7:45 p.m.
Talk about drama…
The Tigers and Mariners are tied at 2-2 in the ninth inning with the winner advancing to face the Toronto Blue Jays in the ALCS.
Andrés Muñoz strikes out Spencer Torkelson and Zach McKinstry around a line out to shortstop from Colt Keith to send it to the bottom of the ninth with Seattle looking to walk the series off.

Leo Rivas pinch-hit RBI single ties it at 2-2 - 7:20 p.m.
Detroit finally turned to the bullpen after six innings as Tarik Skubal retired the final 14 batters he faced after Josh Naylor's double in the second inning. Skubal finished with one run allowed on two hits with 13 strikeouts for Detroit.
A one-out walk from Jorge Polanco in the seventh off Kyle Finnegan snapped a run of 15 straight retired by Tigers pitchers. Naylor's two-out single to right put a pair of runners on as the strategy picked up for both teams.
Seattle manager Dan Wilson pinch-hit Dominic Canzone for Mitch Garver, which promoted Tigers' manager A.J. Hinch to go to left-hander Tyler Holton to face the lefty in Canzone. But Wilson had an answer, turning to switch-hitter Leo Rivas to face Holton instead.
Rivas delivered a game-tying RBI single to left field that scored Polanco to tie the game at 2-2.
Kerry Carpenter's 2-run home run gives the Tigers a 2-1 lead - 6:45 p.m.
As he did in Game 1, a two-run home run from Kerry Carpenter has delivered a big blow to the Mariners.
Carpenter's blast into the center field seats off reliever Gabe Speier gave the Tigers a 2-1 lead in the sixth inning. George Kirby allowed a lead-off double to Javier Báez for the first extra-base hit of the game for Detroit.
Manager Dan Wilson went to Speier to get the left-on-left matchup of Speier vs. Carpenter, but a 1-1 fastball from Speier caught the middle of the plate and Carpenter didn't miss.
Kirby was terrific through five innings for Seattle, allowing just one run on three hits with a hit batter and six strikeouts.

Mariners maintain 1-0 lead through four innings - 6:20 p.m.
George Kirby has been really sharp for Seattle, mixing in his slider way more heavily than normal. Kerry Carpenter is the only batter to get a hit off Kirby, singling in the first and third innings. Kirby hit Colt Keith with a pitch with two outs in the fourth to put a runner on, but Cal Raleigh delivered a perfect strike to second base to throw out a stealing Keith to end the inning.
Carpenter is now 7-for-13 in his career with five home runs off Kirby, which makes his third at-bat a possible decision point for manager Dan Wilson.
Tarik Skubal has been really good for the Tigers as well. Skubal has struck out 10 Mariners through four innings, which includes seven straight. Mitch Garver's RBI sacrifice fly to drive in Josh Naylor serves as the only run of the game.
Josh Naylor, Mitch Garver give the Mariners a 1-0 lead - 5:40 p.m.
Josh Naylor swatted a one-out double into the left field corner on a 100 mph fastball from Tarik Skubal. Naylor then swiped third base with Skubal not paying him nearly enough attention on the bases, which proved to be an important bag to grab. Mitch Garver's fly ball to deep center was more than enough for Naylor to score the opening run for a 1-0 lead in the second inning.
Scoreless first innings for George Kirby, Tarik Skubal - 5:25 p.m.
A lead-off single from Kerry Carpenter off the glove of J.P. Crawford gets the game underway. George Kirby works around the baserunner with strikeouts of Gleyber Torres (looking) and Spencer Torkelson (swinging) for a relatively clean top of the first.
Cal Raleigh singled off Detroit starter Tarik Skubal with one out in the bottom of the first, which gave Raleigh a hit in all five games of the ALDS. Skubal bounced back with strikeouts of Julio Rodríguez and Jorge Polanco to keep it scoreless through the first.
