Seattle weather: Haze on the horizon with summer temps just around the corner

A beautiful, sunny day with a noticeable haze in the air.  Wildfire smoke from the Canadian wildfires is drifting into Western Washington.  Air quality is in the good range in Puget Sound, but it is suffering close to the fires.   The air quality alert remains in effect until further notice.

It has been almost 1 month since we have seen measurable rainfall in Seattle.  The longest stretch was back in 2017 when we went 55 days without rain.

We're tracking a long stretch of dry weather in the Seattle area.

It looks like the long stretch without rain should end by early next week.   A rare, July cold front will sweep through, bringing widespread, measurable rainfall to much of the area.  Rainfall estimates range from .10"-50" in spots.

Some much-needed rain is finally headed to Washington. (FOX13 Seattle)

The rain chances will be short-lived and by the middle of next week we will return to the summer sunshine and warmth.
