Seattle weather: Who will have a white Christmas in western Washington?
SEATTLE - If you’re dreaming of a white Christmas in Seattle this year… I hate to break it to you, but as of Thursday, the chances for snow in the Puget Sound lowlands on Christmas are looking quite small, if not non-existent entirely.
Temperatures this year look too mild in the lower elevations for precipitation to fall in the form of snow. However, it’ll be a different story in the mountains.
The Cascades could see periods of snow ahead — beginning along Stevens and White passes this weekend and including Snoqualmie Pass starting on Christmas Eve.
Statistically speaking, Seattle has a very low chance of a white Christmas any given year. (FOX 13 Seattle)
Keep in mind: there’s still plenty of time for the holiday forecast to change in any direction. Stay with FOX 13 Seattle in the coming days as we refine and update the outlook.
No snow in Seattle for Christmas, but plenty of rain
I wouldn't be shocked if there were a couple of rogue gusts of 45 mph to 50 mph along the far Washington coast or northern Olympics on Thursday afternoon, but there's a better bet that gusts along those beaches would only reach 30 to 40 mph Thursday. Otherwise, winds won't be an issue.

Concerns of flooding in western Washington
We're still tracking some flooding concerns, particularly over the Skokomish River in Mason County. In the forest-green colors, flooding could develop over rivers, creeks and streams.

Wet weekend in Seattle
The 50s are on repeat in Seattle through Friday and Saturday. On Friday, even fewer showers are on tap; there may be a couple of sunbreaks in the mostly cloudy skies.
On Saturday, scattered showers will develop in western Washington.
Sunday’s forecast is looking damp and murky. Dress in waterproof layers if you’re going to the Seahawks game!

Rainy and stormy in western Washington for the holidays
The weather for the week of Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa will likely be wet, active and occasionally stormy.
As of Thursday morning, it doesn’t seem like any storm will produce major impacts. However, there may be rounds of mountain snow that could affect mountain pass travel.
In some areas next week, winds could gain strength, but there’s still uncertainty about how things will pan out. We’ll be watching the latest for you closely.
