1 injured in apparent road rage shooting on SR 18 in Federal Way, troopers say

Troopers are investigating an apparent road rage shooting on Highway 18 in Federal Way that left a one injured Thursday morning.

Trooper Rick Johnson said two cars were involved in a shooting in the eastbound lanes of SR-18 near Weyerhaeuser Way before 10:30 a.m.

The victim said that as she was approaching the exit to Enchanted Parkway/SR-18 on I-5, a car was driving erratically next to her and the driver gave her the middle finger before cutting her off and slowing down drastically.

As they entered SR-18, the vehicle pulled up to the victim again and fired shots at her window before driving off.

The victim was injured from the shattered glass and was taken to the hospital. A bullet shot through her window narrowly missed her.

According to the victim, the car was an older model passenger vehicle, that is off-white. The driver of that car was described as a slender Black woman in her 20s with straight-shoulder length hair.

The investigation remains ongoing.

This is the third highway shooting within two days in King County.

On Wednesday morning, troopers said there was an alleged drive-by shooting involving a pellet gun on I-5 near South 200th Street in SeaTac. Hours later, troopers said two drivers fired shots at each other on I-5 near Skyway.
