WA deputies use forensic evidence to track down suspected construction site vandal
KITSAP COUNTY, Wash. - A man is in custody in connection to the "extensive damage" that was left at a Kisap County construction site back in August.
The Kitsap County Sheriff's Office said on Tuesday that deputies arrested the suspect, who allegedly caused more than $1 million in damage and delays.
FOX 13 Seattle previously covered the construction site vandalism on August 23. It appeared that an individual used heavy machinery to destroy the site and equipment.
'Extensive damage' at Kitsap County construction site to cost millions
The damage occurred after an unknown individual or individuals gained access to the site overnight.
It happened on Newberry Hill Road and Sesame Street Northwest in Silverdale.
A retaining wall sustained significant structural damage, causing a considerable delay in the Kitsap County Public Works' project.
The sheriff's office said Tuesday's arrest was the result of a two-and-a-half-month investigation, which used forensic evidence to track down the suspect.
The suspect was arrested with help from the ProAct Team and booked into jail on Tuesday. He will soon face charges.
