'I need to address the elephant-in-the-room,' Bristol Palin talks about her canceled wedding
ANCHORAGE, Ak. -- One week after former Alaska governor Sarah Palin announced her daughter's wedding was called off, Bristol Palin has taken to social media to talk about the cancellation.
Bristol Palin, 24, canceled her engagement earlier this month with 26-year-old Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer. The wedding, which was scheduled for May 23, was called off less than a week before the event.
“They have informed loved ones that unfortunately the announced celebration planned for May 23 will not be held,” Sarah Palin said in a statement posted to Facebook earlier this month.
The Palins still held a BBQ to celebrate life in general, but it was largely known that Palin and Meyer were no longer together.
On Tuesday, Bristol tool to Facebook and her blog to talk about the canceled wedding. The blog post, titled "The wedding that didn't happen," was short, reading:
I feel like I need to address the elephant-in-the-room on this blog, since you guys have been with me through thick and thin. When I first got engaged, you were the first ones I wanted to tell.
I guess you have seen by now that the wedding — that was supposed to happen last weekend — was called off. I’m sure you’ve seen this has been all over the media, but this is a painful time for family and friends and I would just really appreciate your prayers.
I know God’s plan is greater than anything else, and Tripp and I are in Alaska beginning to rebuild our lives under much different circumstances than we anticipated.
Thank you for all of your love and support.
It is still unclear why the couple called off the wedding.
