Investigation underway after man and woman found dead in Bremerton home
BREMERTON, Wash. - Bremerton police are investigating a suspicious death a 44-year-old woman and 48-year-old man found Monday.
Officials on Tuesday identified the victims as a married couple, Erika Schmidt and Steven Wehr who say both died from stab wounds.
A warrant was issued to search the home where a knife was found inside.
Police say the man and woman were found inside a home around 11 a.m. Monday on High Ave. after receiving reports of the woman who lived there not showing up to work in previous days.
Officers responded to the home but no one answered. They spoke with neighbors and noticed closer to the home that a body could be seen on the floor inside. Officers had to forcefully enter the home, where they found a man and woman dead.
Police say signs of violence were present. This remains an ongoing investigation.
