Now that you know where you may go, there are also some common holiday shopping and saving tips. The following are detailed by popular site RetailMeNot:

  • In-store pickup is your friend: On Christmas Eve, consider placing your order online early in the day and picking it up at the store to save yourself the time you’d otherwise spend roaming the aisles. Plenty of stores offer free same-day pickup.
  • Consider same-day delivery: If you’re strapped for time, some retailers offer same-day delivery. Slots will likely fill up fast on Christmas Eve, so order early. Keep in mind that same-day delivery usually incurs a fee (but that fee could be well worth it if you’re busy).
  • Buy digital or subscription gifts: There’s no need to run out to a store to get a physical gift when there are so many great digital gift options. Consider e-gift cards that go straight to your recipient’s inbox (they’re harder to lose, too); a subscription to learning platforms like MasterClass or Rosetta Stone; or a subscription to a streaming service like Hulu.
  • Gift a subscription box: You can sign your recipient up for monthly shipments of treats, beauty products and other items, and they’ll get their first shipment after the holidays. They’ll never know you ordered the subscription on the way to the party.
