How to celebrate Lunar New Year in Seattle
SEATTLE - Lunar New Year is just around the corner and there are events popping up all around Seattle.
Officially on Jan. 29, some celebrations are kicking off early in the city.

Lunar New Year at Pacific Place – Seattle
- Saturday, Jan. 25 3 p.m.-5 p.m.
- Family-friendly events such as dragon puppets, mask-making activities and martial arts performances.
- Cost: Free
Celebrate the Year of the Snake – Bellevue
- Saturday, Jan. 25 from 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
- Live performances showcasing cultural performances such as the Chinese Lion and Dragon Parade.
- Arts and crafts activities for all ages in Bellevue Square's Center Court
- Cost: Free
Microsoft Asian Spring Festival Celebration – Redmond
- 25th annual festival gala from 12 p.m.-9 p.m. on Jan. 25.
- Redmond Overlake Christian Church hosts games and prizes, traditional Chinese foods and live performances.

Seattle Center Tet – Seattle
- Jan. 25-26 from 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
- Vietnamese Lunar New Year will be held in the Armory Food and Event Hall and Fisher Pavillion with food vendors, lion dances, art shows and family-friendly children activities.
- Cost: Free
Museum of Flight – Tukwila
- Weekdays from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. until Jan. 29
- Hear about Asian and Asian American contributions to aviation and aerospace.
- Activities including paper lantern and kite making and New Year wishes.
- Cost: $18-26
Lunar New Year Celebration at U-Village – Seattle
- Friday, Jan. 31, 2025 from 1:30 p.m.–2 p.m.
- University Village, 2623 N.E. University Village St.
- This annual Lunar New Year at the Village Green event will feature Mak Fai Dancers, rain or shine.
- Cost: Free
Lunar New Year Celebration at Jefferson Community Center – Seattle
- Friday, Jan. 31 from 5 p.m.–7 p.m.
- Jefferson Community Center, 3801 Beacon Ave. S.
- At this free family event, celebrate the Year of the Snake with activities, arts and crafts and food.
- Cost: Free
Lunar New Year Celebration – Burien
- Saturday, Feb. 1 from 10 a.m–1 p.m.
- Burien Library, 400 S.W. 152nd St.
- This festive Lunar New Year celebration will take place inside the Community Room at the Burien Public Library/City Hall. Enjoy bao and pastries, a traditional lion dance, games and more. Free snacks will be available while supplies last. The first 60 people to attend this event will also receive a gift.

Seattle Asian Art Museum – Seattle
- Saturday, Feb. 1 from 11 a.m.–2 p.m.
- Seattle Asian Art Museum, 1400 E. Prospect St.
- Head to SAM for storytimes, drop-in art activities, a lion dance, photobooth, food and more to celebrate the Year of the Snake. Tickets to the lion dance will be distributed at the entrance on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Cost: Free with suggested museum admission.
Lunar New Year at Westfield Southcenter – Tukwila
- Saturday, Feb. 1 from 11 a.m.–3 p.m.
- Westfield Southcenter, 2800 Southcenter Mall
- Celebrate Lunar New Year at Westfield Southcenter. This all-ages event will be filled with tradition, culture, and fun. From lion dances to cultural performances and interactive activities, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Mercer Island Lunar New Year Celebration – Mercer Island
- Sunday, Feb. 2. from 10 a.m.–2 p.m.
- Mercer Island Community & Event Center, 8236 S.E. 24th St.
- Ring in the Lunar New Year at the Mercer Island Community & Event Center. There will be performances, games, arts and crafts and food at this family-friendly event.
