Man sentenced to life without parole for killing his grandparents
SEATTLE – Michael Chadd Boysen 27, was sentenced Friday to life in prison without the possibility of parole for strangling his grandparents, Robert and Norma Taylor, in March, just hours after they threw him a party.
It was an emotional sentencing, and Boysen’s mother, Melanie Taylor, recounted in the courtroom how she found her parent's bodies at their home.
“Opening the guest room closet door, I could not believe what I saw. I opened and shut that door three times in hopes of what I was seeing was not real," she said. "My parents were piled on the closet floor in a manner I will never forget."
Several other family members spoke, and at one point Boysen lashed out at his aunt, Suzanne Taylor Campbell.
Boysen had confessed to strangling his grandparents on March 9, just hours after they threw him a party celebrating his release from prison. He stuffed their bodies in a guest room closet, stole cash and jewelry and their car and fled the area. He was eventually cornered at a motel in Lincoln City, Ore., and taken into custody.
In October, he pleaded guilty to the murder charges he faced, but he has not explained his motive for the murders.
“There are few people I love more in this world. I love more than my grandparents, truly,” Boysen said.
