Mountlake Terrace police warn of possible child luring attempts

MOUNTLAKE TERRACE, Wash. -- The Mountlake Terrace Police Department warned Monday that there had been an additional report of a possible child luring attempt in the past week.

Police said that in this incident, a man who was reported to have a Russian accent attempted to contact a student and asked to be shown how to get to nearby schools. His vehicle was described as a green van with flames.

In October, there were two reports of child luring  attempts in the city, police said. In both cases, the drivers of vehicles attempted to contact students walking home alone and offered rides home. One was a woman with a "Russian" accent and the other was a man with a Russian accent.

The vehicle descriptions in those cases were a silver minivan and black Audi 4 door.

Police said they urge anyone who has a similar encounter or observes suspicious activity to call 911 immediately.
