FUGITIVE CAPTURED October 18, 2013 -- The Snohomish County Sheriff's Office says wanted fugitive, Duane 'DJ' Sanders had his mom pick him up at a friends place in Stanwood, then drive him to the Snohomish County Jail -- where he surrendered.
FUGITIVE WANTED IN SNOHOMISH COUNTY October 18, 2013 -- A Snohomish County Sheriff's deputy suffered minor injuries after a suspect he was attempting to take into custody assaulted him. Around 9 a.m. Friday, the deputy was responding to a call about a stolen F-250 Ford truck that was found by a resident in nearby woods. As the deputy was waiting for the tow truck to arrive, Duane "DJ" Sanders, 29, and a 32-year-old woman arrived at the scene. Sanders and the woman are Stanwood residents. Sanders, who has a number of warrants out for his arrest, is not believed to be involved in the theft of the truck, police said. However, when the deputy attempted to take Sanders into custody for his outstanding warrants, Sanders assaulted him, hitting him in the face, ear and hand as he was being handcuffed. Sanders then fled the scene. The deputy was taken to a nearby hospital and was released after being treated. Police are searching for Sanders, who was last seen wearing a dark fleece jacket and jeans. He is 5-feet, 4-inches tall and weighs about 130 pounds. He has facial hair and is missing a right eye and his left wrist has a handcuff on it.
