Suspect accused of stabbing gas station clerk arrested
Seattle police say the suspect stabbed a Northgate gas station clerk over a mask dispute
SEATTLE - Seattle Police have arrested a man they say stabbed a gas station clerk over a mask dispute.
According to police, the man entered a gas station in Northgate around 7 p.m. on Nov. 15 without a mask on.
The clerk told him he couldn't enter without a mask. The suspect then stabbed the clerk in the chest and abdomen and ran away.
The man went to Harborview Medical Center for treatment.
Two days later, SPD arrested an 18-year-old man in connection with the stabbing.
Police surveilled his home for multiple hours on Wednesday and eventually knocked on the front door and spoke with a family member of the suspect. The family member denied the suspect was in the home but as they were speaking, the suspect attempted to sneak out the back door and was apprehended by officers who were waiting for him.
The King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office argued that the suspect is a "danger to the community" and asked a judge to hold him in jail on $150,000 bail.
