Man accused of setting room on fire during Everett standoff

A man was arrested for allegedly starting a fire inside his own family's home during a standoff in Everett.

The suspect's mother had apparently called police in hopes of getting her son a mental health evaluation after a destructive Christmas Eve.

Upon arrival, deputies say the suspect initially ignored their commands, refusing to come downstairs. When told he had a warrant and was under arrest, the suspect stated something to the extent of, "I am not going to jail today for that bulls--t warrant," court documents say.

After making multiple attempts, officers say the suspect continued to respond with comments like, "I'm going to blow this house up with all of you in it," "You are all going to die," and, "I have nothing to lose, you guys do."

Officers then began to smell smoke coming from upstairs, prompting them to exit the residence.

It was determined that the suspect had caused a fire in his stepdad's room. Officers developed probable cause to now arrest him for arson (domestic violence) and resisting arrest.

As the smoke got worse, court documents state the suspect was forced out onto the roof. Officers allegedly tried to use a ladder to get the suspect down, but he knocked it back onto the ground.

The suspect eventually jumped off the roof, where he was arrested.

The suspect was cleared from the hospital and booked into Snohomish County Jail. He faces charges of first-degree arson (DV), resisting arrest, and a Snohomish County warrant.
