1 dead, 2 injured in head-on Christmas Day crash in Poulsbo, WA

One person is dead and two more are injured following a Wednesday morning crash in Poulsbo.

The Kitsap Sheriff announced on Christmas Day there was a two-vehicle head on crash in the 16200 block of Viking Way NW.

According to first responders, a driver believed to be speeding and under the influence went into the opposite travel lane to pass a vehicle but did not return to the correct lane. This is when investigators say he crashed head on to a man and woman in a Toyota SUV who were in their correct lane.

The man and woman in the Toyota were transported to the hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.

The roadway was shut down for several hours Wednesday morning as crews worked to investigate and eventually clean up the scene of the crash.
