Runaway horse causes fatal car accident
EPHRATA, Wash. -- A man was killed in a single-car accident early Monday morning after a spooked horse suddenly ran into a roadway in Grant County.
According to the Washington State Patrol, a 24-year-old man was driving eastbound on State Route 28 two miles west of Ephrata at 1:58 a.m when the spooked horse ran into the roadway. The man's 1992 Ford Ranger struck the animal and his car was totaled and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The horse was also killed.
Ephrata is an area known for horses -- both wild and domestic -- and is not far from the popular Wildhorse Campground.
