Touching reunion between victim of fiery crash, her off-duty 'angel' cop who saved her

BELLEVUE, Wash. -- We told you Tuesday night about the local woman rescued from a burning car, thanks to an off-duty Seattle police officer. There was one thing she wished she could tell the man she calls her "guardian angel."

On Wednesday, her wish came true.  It was a heartfelt reunion neither will ever forget.

But their first meeting began as a near-death experience that 70-year-old Kaarisa Karley is grateful she can't remember.

A four-car crash on I-90 near Snoqualmie Monday afternoon left Kaarisa unconscious and trapped inside her car as it went up in flames.

Off-duty Seattle officer John Smith just happened to be driving by.

Smith risked his own life to pull Kaarisa's body from the car before the fire could swallow her up.

“He was my angel and this whole thing was like a huge miracle,” says Kaarisa.

Kaarisa calls it a miracle and even the 150 stitches in her face can`t stop her from smiling.

What may have started in the wrong place at the wrong time, is a story that ends in just the right way.

“I will think about this a long time -- forever,” says Smith.
