Tree crashes through Jeep on I-5, injuring 2 in Bellingham, WA

In Whatcom County, two people were injured when a falling tree struck their vehicle. The damage happened during a series of high wind gusts across western Washington Saturday, knocking out power to nearly 70,000 at its height. 

Pictures obtained by WSP and shared with FOX 13 show the tree smashing through the Jeep’s window. It happened on I-5 just south of Bellingham just before 11 a.m. The victims suffered minor injures and are expected to be okay.

"Please stay vigilant, watch for debris in the road, and report downed power lines," WSP wrote in an X post.

As for downed trees, crews are still assessing damage. PSE tells customers to continually check it’s outage map for the latest information on power restoration efforts.
