Twenty-Five Mile Fire burns nearly 10,000 acres, Level 3 evacuations issued for some residents
LAKE CHELAN, Wash. - The Twenty-Five Mile Fire burning south and west of Lake Chelan has destroyed one structure and is threatening 772 more.
The fire is at seven percent containment and has burned an estimated 10,000 acres.
Crews continued to extinguish hotspots and reduce hazards around structures in impacted communities on Thursday.
Strong winds and thunderstorms are expected to pass which may increase fire activity.
Crews will also continue with their efforts and aircrafts may use Lake Chelan as a resource to fill. Recreational boaters should be aware of any aircraft takeoff and landings in the lake.
Flash flood watches are in place Friday through Saturday in the surrounding area.
Evacuation levels have remained in place. Evacuation information is available through Chelan County Emergency Management:
- Level 3 (Go Now) evacuations for all properties north of Cove Marina on South Lakeshore Road, the area of Granite Falls Road and First Creek Road west of Lakeshore. Lakeshore Road is closed from Cove Marina north past the Twentyfive Mile drainage.
- Level 2 (Get Set) from South from Cove Marina to Morning Sun Drive
- .Level 1 (Get Ready) Lakeshore Road south of Granite Falls area.
