Seattle weather: Wet, windy with coastal flooding

An active start to the weekend with lowland rain, mountain snow, gusty winds along with coastal flooding. A strong area of low pressure is producing widespread rain on Friday night which will linger into Sunday morning.

Rainfall totals will be around .50"-2" through the weekend. By Sunday afternoon, rainfall will wrap up just in time for Sunday night's Seahawks game at Lumen field.

Widespread rainfall is expected across the region. Scattered showers will continue through much of Saturday.

Snow levels will start around 3500' on Friday and drop to near 2000' on Sunday.  Mountain snow will be possible through the weekend with our area passes picking up almost a foot of snow. 

Mount Baker may see close to two feet of snow fall. Monitor road conditions through the weekend and be prepared for winter driving conditions.

Lowering snow levels will bring rounds of snow to our area passes.

Winds are also forecast to pick up overnight Friday and into Saturday. High Wind Warnings are in effect along the northern coast with Wind Advisories stretching southward to the Oregon border along with locations in the North Sound.

Winds are forecast to pick up overnight Friday and will peak at around 50mph.

The strongest winds will be found along the coast and inlet with gusts over 50 mph. It will be breezy well into the interior portions of Puget Sound too, with gusts of 40-50 mph. Winds will start to relax by Saturday evening into Sunday.

Early Saturday will be gusty at times, with the North Puget Sound and Washington Coast taking the brunt of the strongest winds.

In addition to gusty winds and the wet weather, significant coastal flooding will be possible during high tide along the Washington coast. Several Coastal Flood Warnings and advisories are posted through Saturday afternoon. Wave heights will near 11 feet with 2-3' of inundation possible in low-lying spots.

A Coastal Flood Warning is in effect through Saturday afternoon along the northern Washington Coast.

We get a short-lived break in the wet weather on Sunday afternoon before another chance of showers returns by early next week. Afternoon highs will be close to, if not on some days, a little above average.
