$10K reward offered for answers in Seattle metro bus stabbing

The transit union is offering a $10,000 reward to help find the person who murdered a Seattle bus driver.

Around 3:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Seattle Police reported Shawn Yim was murdered while doing his job.

Yim had been a bus driver for King County Metro since 2015.

Investigators said Yim had two passengers on his bus Wednesday morning, when one of them stabbed him to death.

The murderer is still on the loose.

"What I know is we’re not doing enough. We’re not doing enough," said Greg Woodfill, who is the president of Amalgamated Transit Union Local 587.

He said the union has been working for months to try and make buses safer for drivers and passengers, without any changes. He said after this brutal murder of one of their own, action is needed immediately.

"What we have invested so far in the future is all going to be for naught if our operators do not feel safe to operate a vehicle, if the passengers do not feel safe to ride it,’ said Woodfill.

Woodfill said there needs to be secured areas for drivers, there needs to be more dedicated transit police, and there needs to be a regional task force to deal with the safety concerns.

The murder of Yim comes on the heels of King County Metro shutting down all services to a bus stop in Seattle’s Chinatown neighborhood.

The union said they are offering a $10,000 reward to the person who helps find the killer.

There are pictures of the suspect, but Seattle Police have not yet released them.
