Suspected ATM card skimmers caught on camera in Kitsap County

Kitsap County Sheriff's detectives are investigating after a suspected ATM card skimmer was likely used at a credit union in Silverdale.

Deputies responded to the Connection Credit Union on Silverdale Way Northwest after a customer reported fraudulent activity to a branch employee.

The ATM at the branch appeared to be tampered with by multiple suspects.

Video from the ATM showed two or three people in full clothing, beanies, and masks placing a skimming device on the walk-up ATM over a 19-day period, deputies said.

The suspects approach and leave the ATM on foot, coming and going to the south of the branch. One suspect arrived on a scooter, the sheriff's office added.

It's currently unknown how many debit card numbers were taken. Deputies did not identify any transactions made by the suspects.

Card skimmers allow scammers to create a copy of cards that are inserted into them. They can capture the PIN as well, if it's an ATM card.

Anyone who believes their information was compromised is asked to contact their bank or credit union, and report any fraudulent activity to 911.
