Beacon Hill house fire was intentionally set
SEATTLE -- The Seattle Fire Department said Monday one of its investigators has determined that a Beacon Hill house fire earlier in the day was intentionally set.
No one was injured in the blaze, but four people were displaced after the early morning fire.
A group men driving by the home in the 3900 block of S. Cloverdale St. noticed the house on fire around 3 a.m. The group called 911 and pounded on the home's door in an effort to wake up the occupants.
Four people in the house were able to make it out safely through the home's garage.
Firefighters said the damage was confined to the roof and the attic.
"A Seattle Fire investigator has determined an early morning house fire in the South Beacon Hill neighborhood was intentionally set," the Fire Department said late Monday, adding that the case has been turned over to the Seattle Police Department arson squad for further investigation.
The fire investigator determined the fire caused $100,000 in damage to the structure and $40,000 to the contents of the two-story home.
If anyone has any information on this case they are asked to call the Arson Hotline at 1-800-55-ARSON ( 1-800-552-7766).
