SEATTLE -- Microsoft, Amazon and Starbucks were named among the best global brands, according to a new report released Monday.

The report was put together by Interbrand, a corporate identity and brand consulting company, and it listed the Top 100 brands of 2013.

Microsoft came in at No. 5 on the list, with a value of more than $59 billion. At No. 19 was Amazon with an estimated value of $23.6 billion, and Interbrand placed Starbucks at No. 91. The coffee company was valued at around $4.4 billion.

Another Northwest giant, Oregon-based Nike, was ranked at No. 24 on Interbrand's list, with a value of $17 billion.

Coca-Cola had held the top spot on the list for the past 13 years, but this year it was surpassed by Apple. The tech company was valued at $98.3 billion, while Google held second place with a value of $93.3 billion. Interbrand placed Coca-Cola in the No. 3 spot and its value was estimated at around $79 billion.

In an interview with The New York Times, a spokesperson for Interbrand said it was only a matter of time until Apple ranked No. 1 on the list. He adds that while Coca-Cola does an efficient job in marketing its brand, technology companies like Apple are leading the way at the moment.
