1 dead in apartment complex fire in Everett, WA

Investigators are working to determine the cause of a deadly apartment fire Tuesday night in Everett.

Before 9:45 p.m., multiple crews from Everett, the Marysville Fire District, Snohomish Regional Fire and Rescue, and Snohomish Fire District 4 responded to reports of a structure fire off Grand Avenue, where flames were coming from an apartment window.

What they're saying:

When firefighters arrived, they found a fire in a bottom-floor unit of a fourplex. Crews entered the unit and found an unresponsive woman.

Medics performed CPR and administered life-saving measures, but she died at the scene.

Fire crews quickly extinguished the blaze, preventing it from spreading to other units.

Officials said the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office will confirm the woman’s identity and determine the cause and manner of her death. The Everett Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the fire’s origin and cause, while the Everett Police Department is handling the death investigation.
