Local cops dish up burgers and more for Special Olympics
BELLEVUE -- When you're out dining this weekend and your server asks, "Do you want fries with that?," look closely -- your server just may be a local police officer.
Saturday, local law enforcement officers are teaming up with Red Robin Gourmet Burgers to raise funds for Special Olympics Washington. In other words, local police officers will be on hand, serving customers at more than 28 Red Robins statewide, from Lakewood to Yakima.
The partnership between law enforcement and Special Olympics Washington has raised more than $2 million across the country since it began eight years ago. In Washington state, the partnership brought in $100,000 in 2012. That money funds 10,000 special Olympian athletes in Washington.
Diners who donate $100 or more will be entered to win a pair of Alaska Airlines roundtrip tickets.
