Sewage overflow closes Everett beaches
EVERETT - It's safe now to go in the water at Rotary Park, Langus Park and off Jetty Island in the Everett area. Thursday night's rainy deluge caused about a dozen sewer outfalls to overflow into the Snohomish River and Port Gardner Bay, according to the City of Everett Public Works department. The sewage overflow forced the closure of beaches at Howarth Park, Pigeon Creek Beach, Langus and Rotary Park, and Jetty Island.
Water sample results on Saturday showed that the water quality had returned to normal at Langus and Rotary Parks and Jetty Island. Those beaches are now open for swimming, Everett Public Works department reported. Howarth and Pigeon Creek Parks remain closed until water samples results are released on Sunday.
Thursday's heavy rains forced sewer overflows that affected more than 30 homes in the central and North Everett area. Residents whose homes were affected by the sewage overflow should call public works dispatch at (425) 257-8821 to make a report, according to a City of Everett press release.
