Stormy start to fall expected

The last day of summer has ended on a nice note. Sunny skies and mild temperatures complete the nearly perfect summer season we have enjoyed so this year. Now, we move onto fall and it will begin on a stormy note.

Winds on the coast will be about 40mph while winds in Puget Sound will average 15-25mph. Rain in the mountains will be fast and hard at 1”-3” of rain expected while in the lowlands, we can look for about an inch in some areas.

The good news is that this cold front is a fast mover meaning that the “heavy stuff” won’t last all day.  I’m keeping scattered showers in the forecast through Wednesday morning, but after tomorrow most of the rain will be “hit and miss.” Western Washington should return to highs near 70 by the end of next week.
