WA soldiers going to US-Mexico border
SEATTLE - Active-duty military personnel from Washington are heading down to the U.S.-Mexico border.
President Donald Trump has called for missions to secure the southern border and forces from Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Pierce County will be part of the response, according to I Corps.
By the numbers:
The police company heading south is made up of about 100 soldiers. Base officials say that details of the company's departure timeline cannot be shared for security reasons.

What they're saying:
"The 66th Military Police Company from the 42nd Military Police Brigade will deploy an immediate augmentation of military active-duty forces to the Southern Border to carry out directed missions called for by the President to secure the Southern Border and protect and defend the territorial integrity of the United States.
Under the direction of U.S. Northern Command and Joint Task Force North, 66th Military Police Company's missions will include augmenting its forces to support enhanced detection and monitoring efforts at the southern border."
