VIDEO: Drone helps catch Redmond, WA domestic violence suspect
REDMOND, Wash. - Redmond police released video of an arrest from Nov. 27, where officers used a drone with thermal imaging to track down a domestic violence suspect.
Around 6:00 p.m. on Nov. 27, officers were called to a domestic violence assault call near 164th Ave NE and Redmond Way. They arrived and attempted to arrest the suspect, but he ran south into the woods along Bear Creek Trail.
Redmond police then used a drone to scan the woods, identifying the suspect through thermal imaging. Authorities say this "drone as a first responder" provides live visuals of suspects without endangering officers or the community.
Officers then moved in with a K9 unit and took the man into custody.
