Cal Raleigh, Eugenio Suárez give Mariners 6-2 lead - 6:05 p.m.

What a momentum swing for the Mariners in Game 5.

Cal Raleigh hit a solo home run off Blue Jays reliever Brendon Little to lead off the eighth inning and tie a critical Game 5 in the ALCS at 2-2. Raleigh's fourth home run of the postseason – and 64th on the year – could not have come in a bigger moment for the Mariners, who are looking to avoid dropping all three games at home to Toronto in the series.

It was only bested by what was to come from Eugenio Suárez.

Little walked Jorge Polanco and Josh Naylor as he was rattled after the home run to Raleigh. The Blue Jays turned to Seranthony Dominguez to try and escape the jam and he hit Randy Arozarena with a pitch to load the bases.

Suárez then hammered a 98.5 mph fastball from Dominguez deep over the right field wall to stun Toronto and give the Mariners a 6-2 lead out of nowhere.

George Springer leaves due to injury - 5:25 p.m.

Blue Jays designated hitter George Springer left the game in the seventh inning after he was hit by a pitch by Seattle's Bryan Woo.

Woo's sinker ran back in on Springer and hit him directly on the right knee cap as he collapsed in a heap in the batter's box. After being down for several minutes, Springer tried to catch his wind and shake off the pain. However, it was obvious he was limping badly and he had to exit the game.

Joey Loperfido – who was added to the ALCS roster on Thursday in place of an injured Anthony Santander –  pinch-ran for Springer at first base.

Woo worked out of the inning without allowing another run as the Mariners remain down a run through the top of the seventh inning.

Blue Jays take a 2-1 lead on Ernie Clement RBI single - 5:02 p.m.

The Blue Jays have taken the lead for the first time in Game 5 in the sixth inning against Bryan Woo.

A lead-off double from Alejandro Kirk on an ambushed first-pitch fastball marked the fifth double of the game for the Toronto offense. Ernie Clement then delivered a one-out single to right field off Woo with a poor throw home Dominic Canzone missing a chance to potentially keep the go-ahead run off the board with the lumbering Kirk scoring from second.

Woo got a pair of groundouts from Addison Barger and Isiah Kiner-Falefa to end the inning, but Toronto leads yet again at T-Mobile Park.

A two-out walk of Randy Arozarena ended Kevin Gausman's outing for Toronto after 5 ⅔ innings as he was replaced on the mound by Louis Varland.

Varland immediately walked Eugenio Suárez to put a pair of runners on, but J.P. Crawford chopped out to third base to end the threat for Seattle.

Bryan Woo returns to mound in 6th inning - 4:52 p.m.

Bryan Woo is pitching the sixth inning for the Mariners in relief of Matt Brash. It's the first action for Woo since leaving a start against the Houston Astros with pectoral tightness on September 19.

Blue Jays tie Game 5 at 1-1 on George Springer double - 4:42 p.m.

A lead-off single from Addison Barger against Bryce Miller prompts Dan Wilson to turn to the bullpen in the fifth inning.

Matt Brash enters in place of Miller and gets Isiah Kiner-Falefa to fly out and Andrés Giménez to ground out. However, a two-out double to left-center field from George Springer scored Barger to tie the game at 1-1.

Brash then walked Nathan Lukes to bring Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to the plate in a massive spot for the Mariners. Brash fell behind 2-0, and 3-1, in the count before battling back to strikeout Guerrero to end the inning and preserve the tie game.

Bryce Miller escapes a bases loaded jam - 4:15 p.m.

Nathan Lukes doubled inside the first base bag to lead off the inning for Toronto as their offensive might put pressure on Seattle starter Bryce Miller. The Mariners intentionally walked Vladimir Guerrero Jr. before Miller issued a non-intentional variety to Alejandro Kirk to load the bases with no outs.

Miller rebounded with a big strikeout of Daulton Varsho on a splitter to get the first out of the inning. Another brilliant splitter from Miller then allowed the Mariners to escape unscathed. Ernie Clement chopped Miller's first pitch of the at-bat right in front of home plate. Cal Raleigh quickly grabbed the loose ball before it crossed into foul ground, stepped on home plate for the first out and threw out Clement at first base for an inning-ending double play that preserved the Mariners' 1-0 lead.

It's the first double play started by a catcher in the MLB postseason since Game 1 of the 2012 World Series between the Detroit Tigers and San Francisco Giants.

Miller has allowed three hits with two walks and four strikeouts through four innings for Seattle.

Mariners turn key double play to escape threat in the third - 3:55 p.m.

The Mariners had seen this film before…

The No. 8 hole hitter doubles to lead off the third inning against Seattle's starting pitcher, and Andrés Giménez hits a two-run home run to spark an offensive barrage from the Blue Jays. Ernie Clement doubled in Game 3 ahead of Giménez, and Isiah Kiner-Falefa doubled in Game 4 before Giménez's home runs flipped the games.

In Game 5, Kiner-Falefa doubled again to lead off the third inning in front of Giménez on a shot inside the third base bag that was a near carbon copy to his double in Game 4. But unlike the previous two games, the Mariners made the big play instead.

Giménez lined out directly to Josh Naylor at first base, who was able to double off Kiner-Falefa at second on the sharp liner for two quick outs. Bryce Miller then managed to get George Springer to chop out to the mound as Miller is through three innings of scoreless ball.

SEATTLE, WASHINGTON - OCTOBER 17: Eugenio Suárez #28 of the Seattle Mariners hits a home run against the Toronto Blue Jays during the second inning in game five of the American League Championship Series at T-Mobile Park on October 17, 2025 in Seattl … (Alika Jenner / Getty Images)

Eugenio Suárez gives Mariners a 1-0 lead - 3:45 p.m.

Leo Rivas continues to make an impact in the postseason for Seattle. Rivas made a tremendous running and leaping snag to rob Ernie Clement of a one-out single to center field in the second inning. Bryce Miller struck out Addison Barger to end the second scoreless for Seattle.

That allowed Eugenio Suárez to give the Mariners the lead in the bottom of the second inning.

Suárez crushed a fastball over the middle of the plate from Kevin Gausman over the bullpens in left field for a solo home run – his second of the postseason – and a 1-0 Mariners lead.

However, the Mariners have homered to grab an early lead in each of the first two games of the series back in Seattle and been unable to hold on to the advantage. Julio Rodríguez hit a two-run blast in Game 3, and Josh Naylor a solo homer in Game 4 before Toronto's offense roared back in both games.

Can they capitalize on the early momentum in Game 5?

Scoreless first inning - 3:28 p.m.

Bryce Miller struck out George Springer to open the game with a 98 mph fastball above the zone, and Eugenio Suárez made a juggling catch after a long run into foul territory for a quick two outs for the Mariners. The 98.3 mph fastball by Miller was the fastest pitch of his entire career, surpassing a 98.0 mph fastball thrown to Gleyber Torres (then of the New York Yankees) in 2023.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. remained molten hot, ripping a two-out double into the left-center field gap, but Miller rebounded with a strikeout of Alejandro Kirk to keep Toronto off the board in the first inning.

Cal Raleigh roasted a one-out double to left field that caromed in-and-out of the glove of right fielder Addison Barger on a nearly great retreating catch. Instead, Raleigh matched Guerrero by getting a runner in scoring position.

However, an awful strike call by home plate umpire Marvin Hudson with Jorge Polanco at the plate changed the trajectory of the inning. On a 3-1 pitch from Toronto starter Kevin Gausman, a splitter missed well below the strike zone for what should have been ball four. Instead, Hudson called it a strike as the at-bat continued with Polanco eventually striking out.

Instead of two runners on and one out, Seattle had one runner on base and two outs. Josh Naylor's groundout to first base would end the inning for the Mariners.

As a reminder, balls and strikes will be subject to on-field challenges by teams beginning next season.

Seattle Mariners Manager Dan Wilson says Victor Robles is healthy – 2 p.m.

On Friday, Seattle Mariners Manager Dan Wilson said Victor Robles is healthy.

"He's feeling fine," Wilson said. "Just getting a chance of a couple of different looks with he and Dom out in right field."

Dan Wilson on ALCS Game 5 lineup change –  1:30 p.m.

On Friday, FOX 13 Seattle spoke with Wilson about the Game 5 lineup changes.

"Wanting to mix things up a little bit to try to create a little bit more offense and a little bit more consistency throughout the lineup up and down and that's really the genesis of it," Wilson said. "Sometimes when you make a change like that it can create some different results. Hopefully this is a chance to kind of jumpstart things offensively."

Mariners make ‘significant’ lineup change ahead of ALCS Game 5. What this means – 1:15 p.m.

The Mariners made a "significant change" to their lineup ahead of Game 5 of the ALCS.

Manager Dan Wilson has moved Randy Arozarena out of the lead-off spot in the order for the first time since July 31 with Julio Rodríguez moving into the lead-off role.

Arozarena has been struggling at the plate for Seattle, batting just .205 with eight hits in 39 postseason at-bats. Since moving to the lead-off role, Arozarena batted just .218 with a paltry .645 OPS in 58 regular season games to close the year.

Rodríguez has just 15 games in the lead-off spot this season for the Mariners, and the numbers aren’t great. He’s hit just .194 with a .571 OPS from the top spot in the order. However, most of those games came early in the season as he’s had just one game in the lead-off spot since April.

Arozarena slides down to No. 5 in the order behind Josh Naylor. Rodríguez, Cal Raleigh, Jorge Polanco and Naylor have been Seattle’s most productive bats and remain grouped together at the top of the lineup.

Dominic Canzone remains in the lineup in right field in place of Victor Robles for a second straight game. Polanco will be the designated hitter again as well with Leo Rivas playing second base in the No. 9 spot.

Wilson also moved J.P. Crawford in front of Canzone in the order.

Will the roof be open or closed today at T-Mobile Park? – 12:45 p.m.

As of Friday morning, the roof was closed. However, according to FOX 13 Chief Meteorologist Brian MacMillan, T-Mobile Park could open the roof if weather conditions continue to improve.

"If you’re coming down here to T-Mobile Park, it’s going to be a beautiful afternoon," said MacMillan. "We are dealing with a few showers this morning up in the foothills of the Cascades up in Snohomish County, but also just south of Seattle. Right on top of us right now, we are seeing some showers in SoDo. The roof is closed, though, for good reason."

If the forecast holds, we'd expect the roof to be open by game time.

ALCS Game 5 last-minute lineup changes – 12:10 p.m.

The Seattle Mariners tweaked their lineup Friday ahead of Game 5, moving Randy Arozarena out of the lead-off spot.

Julio Rodríguez will now lead off for the Mariners; Arozarena will bat sixth.

Victor Robles will be out again Friday with Dom Canzone in right field.
