Magnitude 6.0 earthquake reported off Vancouver Island

A 6.0 magnitude earthquake hit off the coast of Vancouver Island on Thursday morning, officials said.

Historic storm could form in the Gulf of Mexico this week; earliest named storm since 2017

According to National Hurricane Center records, only two named tropical systems occurred in April - Ana in 2003 and Arlene in 2017. Neither of those tropical storms impacted land as Ana made a long trek across the Atlantic Ocean away from the United States and Arlene simply spun around the central Atlantic for one day.

This wet weather is all due to an "atmospheric river" pattern; this is when a corridor of moist, subtropical moisture gets transported to the West Coast. While this particular event is only minor to moderate, the biggest impacts will be felt on the roads. Driving around Western Washington will be slippery and tricky.
