Rainy, gray weather in Seattle for the first weekend of 2025
SEATTLE - For the first weekend of 2025, we’re forecasting dark, soggy and slightly breezy weather for Seattle.
We're forecasting lowland rain, mountain snow and slightly breezy weather in Western Washington on Saturday. (FOX 13 Seattle)
Highs this afternoon will reach the mid to upper 40s for most under cloudy skies. Rain will increase this afternoon and tonight. Showers linger Sunday before gradually tapering tomorrow afternoon.
Scattered rain is predicted in Seattle the next two days. (FOX 13 Seattle)
A Winter Weather Advisory is posted from 4 p.m. today to 10 a.m. Sunday for elevations at and above 3,500 feet (this doesn't include Snoqualmie Pass). In some of these areas, there could be upwards of a foot of snow accumulating - with the highest amounts expected for the highest peaks.
If you have the privilege and luxury of adjusting your travel plans over the mountains this weekend, I'd recommend taking Snoqualmie Pass versus Stevens or White Passes. It'll be the easiest driving over the mountains either this morning or Sunday afternoon.
Winter weather could make traveling over Stevens and White Passes treacherous Saturday evening to Sunday morning. (FOX 13 Seattle)
It'll be blustery tonight around Western Washington as well. At most, there could be gusts up to 35-40 mph for the typical areas (including the Northwest Interior, the Admiralty Inlet area and the coast); however, winds don't currently look strong enough to warrant any official wind alerts. Of course, we'll let you know if anything changes.
Temperatures on Saturday afternoon will reach the mid to upper 40s in the greater Seattle area. (FOX 13 Seattle)
King tides are happening this weekend in Central and South Puget Sound, including Seattle and Olympia. Right now, we don't expect flooding from these higher-than-usual tides.
Morning fog will give way to afternoon sunshine on Monday and Tuesday. Partly sunny skies will follow on Wednesday and Thursday. Friday may offer a light shower.
Drier weather will return to Seattle on Monday. (FOX 13 Seattle)
Thanks so much for choosing FOX 13! We appreciate you greatly.
Take good care,
Meteorologist Abby Acone
