Seattle weather: Snow intensifying overnight for the Cascade passes
SEATTLE - Snow will ramp up over the Cascades passes overnight. Meanwhile, heavy rain will batter the lower elevations of Western Washington into Wednesday morning.
We're expecting between five and 11 inches of snow (or more) by Wednesday afternoon for Stevens Pass. There could be upwards of five to ten inches of snow for White and Snoqualmie Passes. Keep in mind, these amounts are fluid and depend on the timing, position and track of this incoming system. It's very possible that Snoqualmie Pass sees much less than Stevens Pass. Snow totals also depend on where the heaviest bands of snow set up and where a convergence zone develops overnight. There are several winter weather alerts in effect until Wednesday afternoon:
In the lower elevations, we're forecasting soaking rain through Wednesday morning. Drier weather takes hold some time Wednesday afternoon.
Temperatures early tomorrow plunge to the upper 30s to low 40s. Highs Wednesday will reach the upper 40s to mid 50s.
Thursday morning, a Freeze Watch is in effect for the communities below:
Otherwise, you can plan on chilly mornings and sunny days for the rest of the seven-day forecast.
Halloween looks dry, chilly and mostly cloudy.
