Police: Homeowner shoots woman after reported burglary on Beacon Hill
SEATTLE - Police are investigating after a homeowner shot a woman in Seattle’s Beacon Hill neighborhood Wednesday morning.
Officers responded to a report of a burglary in the 2100 block of Beacon Avenue South before 7:30 a.m.
According to police, a man and his wife woke up and saw two men and a woman in their yard. The woman called 911 while her husband got a gun and confronted the three people.
Investigators said the man told police he opened fire after one of the suspects approached him while carrying a handsaw.
When officers arrived at the scene, one of the suspects, a 53-year-old woman, had a gunshot wound to her stomach. She was taken to Harborview Medical Center.
A 59-year-old man was arrested at the scene.
The couple reported a possible third suspect, who fled the scene.
Several hours after the shooting, a man with a gunshot wound showed up at a Ballard hospital but it's unknown if he is connected to the Beacon Hill shooting.
Police said the couple was burglarized several days earlier.
The investigation remains ongoing.
