2 injured in Pacific, WA shooting; suspect shot by police

A shooting investigation is underway in Pacific on Tuesday morning.

What they're saying:

Several police responded to the area of 5th Avenue Northeast and Milwaukee Boulevard North at about 9 a.m.

Officers with the Algona Police Department responded to a report of a domestic violence situation with shots fired. There were also reports of shots being fired out in the streets.

Algona Police Chief James Schrimpsher said several officers from Pacific and Auburn police departments responded to the scene. Des Moines, Kent and Tukwila officers also responded.

When officers arrived at the scene, two people had been shot and the suspect was still firing shots, police said.

Investigators said the victims were a 14-year-old and a woman, who appeared to be all family members. Both were taken to Harborview Medical Center and as of late Tuesday morning, they had non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect, an adult male, was shot by a Pacific police officer and was in custody at the scene, Schrimpsher said.

The Pacific Police Department told FOX 13 Seattle no officers were injured.

Alpac Elementary was placed on lockdown but before 10 a.m., the lockdown was lifted.

The Valley Independent Investigative Team will be handling the investigation.
