Say goodbye to the belly roll: Brandon Mebane leaving Seahawks for Chargers

SEATTLE - Less than two hours into free agency, the Seattle Seahawks are down two starters on defense.

The San Diego Chargers announced they signed defensive tackle Brandon Mebane to a three-year contract Wednesday afternoon.

The news comes hot on the heels of news that linebacker Bruce Irvin will be joining the Oakland Raiders.

Mebane, who was an unrestricted free agent, played 125 games for Seattle after being drafted in the third round of the 2007 draft.

The 31-year-old had 24 tackles and 1.5 sacks last season.

The Seahawks posted the news on their website and wrote, "By the end of his run in Seattle, Mebane was the longest-tenured player on the roster, and along with Jon Ryan, he was one of just two players left from the pre-Carroll and Schneider era. But now Mebane moves on to San Diego, so we say good luck with the Chargers, Brandon. You, your stout defense and your “belly roll” celebrations will all be missed. "

Also, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that the Tampa Bay Buccaneersagreed to terms with former Seahawks guard J.R. Sweezy.
