Art Bernstein dead at 95, co-founded Seattle's Harvard Exit theater

Arthur Berstein has passed away at the age of 95, according to one of his children.

Nils Bernstein posted to Facebook announcing his father's December 20 death last week.

His death comes just before the building that Bernstein opened the Harvard Exit theater in turns 100 years old. Back in 1925, it was the Woman's Centruy Club.

In 1968, the property was sold and turned into the two-screen Harvard Exit cinema beloved by the Seattle community for decades. Bernstein opened the theater with his fellow Boeing engineer Jim O'Steen, according to Cinema Treasures.

The property recently sold again in 2015 for renovation and reopened in 2018.

Today, the building's main tenant is the Consulate of Mexico, according to the Harvard Exit website.
