Sheriff: Man trying to avoid fare pulls brake on commuter train

EDMONDS, Wash. (AP) — The King County sheriff's office says a man who was trying to avoid a fare-enforcement officer is accused of pulling the emergency brake of a Sound Transit commuter train, stopping it south of Edmonds, Washington.

The Seattle Times reports that Sound Transit says the interruption delayed the Wednesday afternoon service about 15 minutes.

The sheriff's office says the 25-year-old man was held down by a train conductor, passengers and the fare officer until the train arrived in Edmonds, where he was arrested.

He was expected to be booked into jail for investigation of disrupting service on the train.

Edmonds is north of Seattle.
