Stranger attacks woman outside of her home in Seattle
SEATTLE, Wash. - Seattle police say a convicted felon attacked a woman outside of her home and then assaulted an officer.
Video FOX 13 Seattle obtained shows officers approaching the suspect with guns drawn along Aurora Avenue North and North 80th Street in North Seattle on Wednesday night.
Investigators say the suspect had terrorized a woman a few blocks away from where they arrested him. Police said the suspect tried to break into the woman’s car and threatened to shoot her.
We spoke to the victim the night of the incident. She showed us cell phone video from inside her car as the man was trying to open her doors.
"It’s definitely concerning since we’re basically coming out every single night to walk the dog," said Matt Christie.
Christie lives a few blocks away from where the arrest happened. He tells FOX 13 the crime from Aurora Avenue usually stays centralized to the street.
Aurora Avenue is a known problem spot for crime in the city. A few months ago, leaders vowed to crack down on the violence which they say stemmed from drugs and prostitution.
The suspect is facing charges of harassment, assault and vehicle prowl.
Seattle Police filed charges as misdemeanors with the city attorney’s office.
However, officials with the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s office tell our team they would have pursued felony charges if the case was sent to their office.
