Taylor Winkel
I was born and raised here in Western Washington and am ecstatic to be back home, covering news and stories in the area that shaped who I am today.
I grew up going to concerts and music festivals in downtown Seattle, and playing bass guitar in several local bands (you’ve never heard of) on some of the same stages graced by Nirvana, and Pearl Jam.
I’m a proud UW graduate, and spent time interning with several local media outlets during my time in college. I covered the fight against a new juvenile detention facility in Seattle, search and rescue missions at the Oso landslide and legislative issues in Olympia. Before returning home to Washington in June of 2023 to work for Fox 13 Seattle I spent time producing, reporting and anchoring in Montana, South Texas, and Northern Nevada. During my time in news I’ve covered border and migration issues, mass shootings, and deadly natural disasters. My favorite stories to report are ones that bring closure, understanding or a new perspective.
In my opinion one of the best parts of this job is the power to help people understand what’s going on in their cities, neighborhoods and the community we all share. I learn something new every day at work and I hope I can share that knowledge with you at home.
I am a mom to many plants, a sweet lazy dog, and a wild toddler. When I’m not at work, my family and I enjoy going to area parks, beaches, forests and hiking trails. I love yoga, running, and restaurants that use copious amounts of butter, spices, and salt.
If you see me out somewhere, I hope you’ll stop to say "hi!"
